Home tour: Designing around nature (part 3)

17 November 2016

Welcome to the third and final installment in our TREE designed Dragon’s Range home tour (if you missed them, do check out Part 1 and Part 2 now). It’s time to take a peek into the home office, where the real work gets done!

To wrap up our Dragon’s Range series, we’ll be exploring ways to create a beautifully balanced work space in your own home.

Designing a home office means embracing both form and function – you’ll need a creative space that will inspire you to create your best work, while having room for all your essentials.

When creating this home office, to create a flow and connection to the rest of the home, we focused once again on a calm, neutral scheme, balancing light oak with fresh white plus shades of grey, stone and mauve in between.

One of the first things you notice when walking in the door is the subtle yet statement-making wallpaper, which echoes the master bedroom. We chose to layer only halfway up the wall here to provide separation and depth to the space. This provides a beautiful background for the desk, the focal point of the room.

Made from sustainably sourced solid white oak, we love the way the natural wood contrasts with the clean, white painted drawers, with subtle details like the angled drawers and curved handles. This contemporary, retro-inspired design gives the room a fresh and playful look.

TOP TIP: Short on space? Opt for a desk with built-in drawers and shelving to help you maximise your storage.

Speaking of storage, we paired the desk with a matching chest of drawers to create extra room for stationery and files. Because storage is so important, we also added a single long floating wall shelf above for extra space.

TOP TIP: Mix a few picture frames and plants between your binders and books to add interest and keep your space from looking too serious. Although theres work to get done, you still want to feel like you are at home, not the office, so surround yourself with decorative objects you love and that inspire you.

Big, textured finishing touches like a fun, round shag-pile rug and a playful bean bag finish off the look and add a much needed touch of comfort – if you’ve been sitting at a desk all day, there’s nothing better than sinking into a bean bag with a good book! Large woven baskets provide a stylish way to store bulkier items – why not tuck away a blanket to ensure you’re kept warm while working in the colder winter months.

We absolutely love this fun yet productive workspace that harmonises with the rest of the rooms of the flat, creating the perfect home. With the right mix of furniture and accessories, you can turn any room into a beautiful, creative space that allows your ideas to flourish in the comfort of your own home.

Dont forget to check out Part 1 and Part 2 of Dragons Range home tour – we hope youve enjoyed taking around this beautiful nature-inspired space!

P.S. Did you know? In celebration of our collaboration with Dragon’s Range, we planted 973 trees as part of our commitment to giving back to the environment – one to represent each flat!
