a bar or counter has a way of becoming the most-used piece in a home. it earns its place not through occasion but through everyday rhythm: morning coffee, a quick lunch, working from home, and unwinding in the evening. in Hong Kong homes, where the living and dining zones often share the same open space, a well-chosen design can bring definition and flow without the weight of a full dining arrangement.
can a bar table replace a dining table?
for many Hong Kong homes, yes. a bar table offers a relaxed, flexible way of dining that suits open-plan apartments and compact layouts. it seats people comfortably at height without the footprint of a full dining table setup, which is particularly useful where space needs to work harder. if you are considering this as a swap, our team can walk you through which configurations suit your floor plan.
what sizes suit a Hong Kong home?
bar tables are generally designed at stool height, with tabletop heights of 74 to 82cm and overall heights of 105 to 110cm. widths range from dia 80cm round to 160cm rectangular; depths typically run 45 to 50cm. this makes them well-suited to kitchen extensions, open-plan zones, and dedicated entertainment corners in both compact and more spacious apartments. custom-made options are available in reclaimed teak if you need an exact fit.
do you offer outdoor bar tables?
we do offer outdoor bar tables, primarily available on a pre-order basis. that said, a selection of our in-stock bar tables can also be used outdoors, as they are made from solid teak — an exceptionally durable hardwood known for its natural resistance to the elements. it’s a material that performs beautifully over time, even in more exposed environments.
However, unlike our dedicated outdoor designs, these indoor bar tables do not feature slatted surfaces, which are specifically designed to allow water to drain and air to circulate freely. as a result, we recommend placing them in a sheltered outdoor area or using a cover when not in use.
if left uncovered, the wood will gradually develop a soft, silvery patina—a natural ageing process that many find deeply appealing. whether you choose to preserve its original tone or embrace this evolution, the piece will continue to tell its story with elegance.
