How to decorate a naturally stylish Christmas table

With Christmas a few days away and the final RSVPs flowing in, there’s still time to gather some last-minute props to transform your dining space for a festively stylish celebration. On today’s post, we share with you our favourite ways to add a little Christmas cheer to your table.
If your home is just a bit too petite to squeeze in a Christmas tree, that doesn’t mean you need to completely lay off the evergreen. Make use of vertical space by loosely gathering a bunch of pine branches and hanging them above the table. Weave in some battery-operated Christmas lights for added sparkle and a decidedly festive feel. Displaying seasonal fruits in a decorative bowl is another simple way to add some colour to the table, as well as allowing guests to help themselves with ease.
Of course, hosting Christmas gatherings is all about making your guests feel right at home. If you don’t have upholstered seating round your table, add a few throw cushions embellished in festive colours for a stylish and cosy solution.

Onto the details: when it comes to styling the table for your upcoming Christmas gathering, it’s all about setting the tone with beautiful centrepieces and dinnerware. Light some candles to add movement and warmth to the table, which can be nestled into floral arrangements or wreath candleholders for a naturally stunning focal point. Coloured, etched glassware also makes for excellent tea light holders, and casts stunning shapes and shadows when illuminated for a dramatic dinner scene.
If you have a few spare ornaments after decorating your Christmas tree as well as a extra pine branches and berry sprigs you needed to trim off, scatter them throughout the table for an effortless, subtle touch that helps mirror the style you’ve also created in your living room.
Complete the table with stylish dinnerware that looks as good as the food served on it! Chargers and serving plates with intricate designs work beautifully on their own, but can also be topped with one or two additional plates in complementary colours and patterns for a full, layered look. And if you’re looking to use the everyday crockery you already have at home, this layering trick also works brilliantly with plain-coloured plates.

Last but certainly not least, pile up a serving platter or bowl with beautifully wrapped gifts to surprise guests during dinner, and throw in some crackers and party hats to keep the fun and laughter going throughout the evening!
